Doma United Opens Gusau/Ahlan Preseason Tournament with 1-1 Draw Against Kano Pillars

The annual Gusau/Ahlan Preseason Tournament got off to an exciting start as Doma United and Kano Pillars battled to a 1-1 draw on day two in a thrilling encounter at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Wednesday.

NPFL returnee Kano Pillars took an early lead in the 63rd minute. The Doma United defense struggled to contain the dynamic attacking play of Kano Pillars, who looked poised to secure a victory.

However, Doma United’s determination paid off in the closing minutes of the match. In the 86th minute, Usman Musa brilliantly connected with Ekpenyong’s lobbed pass to level the scores. The late equalizer injected new energy into the game, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

The match was not without its share of controversy. Just moments after being subbed on, Doma United’s Kabiru Mohammed found himself in a collision with a Kano Pillars defender, resulting in a serious injury. Medical staff rushed to the field to attend to the injured player, and Mohammed was subsequently stretchered off.

With the exhilarating draw behind them, Doma United now looks ahead to their next match, scheduled for Thursday, against Mailantarki FC. The clash promises to be another exciting showdown as both teams vie for a strong start in the preseason tournament.
