NPFL Youth League: Doma United Starts Campaign with Walkover Win Over Gombe United

Doma United began their NPFL Youth League campaign with a surprising 3-0 victory, but not in the way they might have planned.

Our scheduled match against Gombe United ended with a walkover due to Gombe United’s failure to arrive at the tournament venue. As a result, Doma United was awarded a walkover victory by match officials.

The news came as a disappointment to fans eager to see the two North-East rivals clash, but it handed Doma United a valuable three points and a strong start to our league campaign.

Speaking about the walkover win, Doma United coach Istifanus Bala Bazooka expressed both relief and frustration: “Obviously, we would have preferred to win on the pitch, but we can’t control Gombe United’s actions. We’re taking the three points and focusing on our next game against Kano Pillars.”

Kano Pillars, who played their opening match to a goalless draw against Katsina United, will present a tougher challenge for Doma United. The match will take place on Friday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, with both teams aiming to build momentum in the early stages of the league.
