Bidemi Owoku Shines With First NPFL Goal, Despite Team’s 2-1 Loss to Rangers
In a thrilling opening match of the 2023/2025 NPFL season, Doma United faced off against Rangers at the Awka City Stadium on Saturday. The match showcased moments of brilliance and determination from both teams.
The game kicked off with high energy, and after 28 minutes, Kalu Kweke of Rangers made a stunning shot, breaking the deadlock and putting Doma United at a one-goal deficit. The Tigers were determined to recover but faced another setback just four minutes later when Austin Onyemaechi extended Rangers’ lead with a skillful run and precise finish from the left side.
As the first half came to a close, Doma United found themselves trailing by two goals but returned for the second half with renewed determination. Bidemi Owoku and Hillary displayed impressive teamwork inside the Rangers’ box, resulting in a well-executed goal by Bidemi, giving Doma United a lifeline in the game.
Coach Akinade Onigbinde made strategic changes in the second half, introducing Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Jerry Agwu, and Sani Suleiman, with Suleiman making his debut. These substitutions injected fresh energy into the team and allowed for increased offensive opportunities.
