Doma United Sustain NPFL Status
The Savannah Tigers have secured their place in the Nigeria Premier Football League 2023/2024 season despite suffering two consecutive defeat away from home.
The Gombe based side were on course to qualify for the Super Six Playoffs until they lost 2-0 against Abia Warriors on Sunday in the final match of the season.
United had lost 2-0 away to Rivers on Thursday which was a huge set back in their quest for a top three finish.
Before the game, United were placed 3rd on the log of group B, two points ahead of Sunshine Stars but they lost against Abia Warriors which means the Tigers will miss out on the Super Six playoffs.
Emmanuel Onu volleyed in from his rebound shot to put his side ahead just before halftime. His initial shot was blocked by Kingdom and it fell directly to him and he made no mistake as he took it well with his left foot.
United started the second half on a high by creating some clear cut chances but it was Abia who extended their lead in the 50th minute when Sunday Megwo tap in from a close range low cross.
Doma United fought hard to get back into the game but Abia Warriors were resolute as they were able to see off the game and finished above United on twenty seven points.
Doma United finished 5th on the log of group B with 26th.
