Federation Cup: Superb Barnabas’ Brace Helps Doma United Qualify For The Round of 32

Daniel Barnabas scored a brace for Doma United in the Federation Cup as The Savannah Tigers qualifies for Round of 32 at the Goal Project Pitch in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ozalla battled gamely throughout and even missed some early chances when United were struggling to catch up with the pace but once Ozalla’s defender cleared Bidemi’s cross into his own net in the 77th minutes, Doma made their class count.

Bidemi made light work of his marker after receiving a pass from Barnabas by the left side to open the scoring for the Tigers.

Barnabas then stunned everyone watching by controlling the ball from the right wing and volleyed with his right foot to put the whole spectators into a standing ovation and extended United’s lead.

Just before the final whistle, Hillary made a brilliant run from the left wing and passes the ball to Barnabas who was waiting by the left side of the box. He controlled and swept in a floor shot to beat the keeper and added United’s third to complete his brace.

Earlier on, United had the chance to go ahead in the first half when Bidemi was brought down inside the box. The referee awarded a spot kick that Usman Musa misses as his effort only rattled the cross bar.

Meanwhile, Barnabas was an unused substitute in United’s 2-1 home win against Bayelsa United in the NPFL last weekend and came off the bench today to grab a brace.

Doma United have had a highly satisfactory week after wrapping up their double home games with wins against Wikki Tourist and Bayelsa United in both match day fourteen and fifteen to move up to second on the NPFL group B log as they continue to their quest for Super Six ticket.

Doma United will now await the draws for the round of 32 to find out their next opponent in the Federation Cup.
