Match Reports: Dakkada FC 1-0 Doma United

It took a stunning rebound from Mmekutmfon Udosen to separate the sides in a close game at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo as the Tigers stuffers first defeat in the second stanza of the season.

Our opponents took the lead during the second-half after having mounted much pressure on our defense, the goal would finally come from a rebound that gave Kingdom no chance.

The Uyo side were the better side in the first twenty minutes as they dominated possession but were unable to find the opener.

Even with Doma United growing into the game, Dakkada continued to mount pressure on the Tigers but it was the Gombe side that got the best chance of the first half as Hillary Ekawu tried a close-range shot which was blocked and Barnabas attempted a back heel flip which was cleared on the line by a defender to keep the scores level before the break.

It was Dakkada who made the breakthrough early in the second half after a shot that was blocked by Kingdom but fell towards the part of Mmekutmfon Udosen who was right on time to bury in the rebound to put his team ahead in the 59th minutes.

Akinade rung some changes during the second half in an effort to push for an equalizer but the host were reluctant as they held on to secure the win.

Kingdom had been marginally the busier goalkeeper, although Dakkada had looked like adding a second goal but Haruna Aliyu was a standout figure in our defence.

Akinade Onigbinde made some changes to the side that had won at home against Niger Tornadoes last weekend.

There was no Usman Musa today who didn’t travel with the team, so Paschal came in and Auwalu Abubakar was handed a start with Maurice Chigozie moving to the bench.

In the first half, services to our wingers and striker were limited and it was difficult for them to join the party and they were reduced to defending.

The second half was a bit better from the boys as they raised up the tempo and, in the process, created some great chances which were not converted and Dakkada mounted more pressure and their pressured paid off in the 59th minute as Mmekutmfon volleyed in the rebound after his initial shot was spilled by Kingdom.

In the 61 minutes, Saifullahi sent in a long free kick and Chibuke headed down from the far post but Hillary’s close effort painfully came off the post to deny him his first goal of the campaign.
