Shooting Stars Edge Doma United in Tight Encounter at Pantami Stadium

In a thrilling encounter at the Pantami Stadium, Doma United suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Shooting Stars of Ibadan in Week 25 of the Nigeria Premier Football League. The loss marks Doma United’s second defeat at home, leaving fans disappointed despite their team’s spirited performance.

The match began with high expectations for Doma United, eager to bounce back from a controversial game against Enyimba the previous week. Samuel Enefiok of Doma United started brightly, nearly breaking the deadlock with an attempted cross that ricocheted off the crossbar, setting the tone for a match filled with missed opportunities for the Savannah Tigers.

Despite the relentless efforts of Doma United’s players, including standout performances from Saifullahi and Samuel Enefiok, luck was not on their side. Several close attempts, including a disallowed goal for an infringement on the goalkeeper, left the home crowd on the edge of their seats.

The visitors, however, capitalized on their opportunities, with an unmarked Gideon John volleying in a crucial goal from a corner kick, leaving Doma United trailing at halftime.

As the second half commenced, Doma United made three changes in a bid to turn the tide of the game. However, despite mounting pressure and creating numerous chances, including a missed opportunity by Umar Adamu, they failed to find the back of the net.

Despite late efforts, including a close free-kick by Abiam Nelson, Doma United ultimately succumbed to defeat at home, with Shooting Stars emerging victorious with a 1-0 scoreline.

The defeat leaves Doma United in 12th place on the league table, with 33 points and only one point from their last six games. Looking ahead, they will face Bendel Insurance in an away fixture in Week 26, hoping to turn their fortunes around and climb up the league standings.

The loss dealt a blow to Doma United’s aspirations in the Nigeria Premier Football League, highlighting the competitive nature of the league and the importance of capitalizing on scoring opportunities.
