Doma United Held at Home by Sporting Lagos in Frustrating Draw

Doma United were left frustrated after being held to a 0-0 draw by Sporting Lagos in a tightly contested Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 23 fixtures at the Pantami Stadium on Monday.

The home side started brightly, dominating possession and creating a flurry of chances in the opening stages. Abiam Nelson came close with a fierce freekick in the 5th minute, while Kamal saw his close-range effort saved shortly after. Nelson continued to threaten, rattling the crossbar with another freekick in the 13th minute.

Sporting Lagos offered little in attack throughout the first half, with Doma United controlling the tempo. Usman Musa tested the goalkeeper with a decent shot in the 38th minute, but the score remained goalless at the break.

The second half mirrored the first, with Doma United dictating play. Bidemi Owoku was brought down on the edge of the area in the 51st minute, but the resulting freekick failed to trouble the goalkeeper.

Doma United made substitutions in search of a breakthrough, with Charles Terwar particularly lively after coming on. He forced a good save from the goalkeeper in the 78th minute, but Doma United’s frustration grew as they failed to convert their dominance into goals.

Sporting Lagos were reduced to ten men in the 79th minute when Mike received his second yellow card, but Doma United were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage.

After the final whistle, home fans were left disappointed with a point gained but two points painfully dropped.

Doma United will now look to bounce back when they travel to face Enyimba in an away fixture next Sunday.
