Doma United Continues Unbeaten Home Run Despite Goalless Draw Against Bendel Insurance

In a fiercely contested encounter in a rescheduled match day four of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Doma United faced off against Bendel Insurance, resulting in a nail-biting goalless draw.

The game, held at Doma United’s home ground, saw the visiting Bendel Insurance putting up a formidable defence, thwarting all efforts of the Savannah Tigers to secure a win.

Despite some changes made by Coach Akinade Onigbinde, including the inclusion of Bidemi Owoku and Ekpenyong in the starting lineup, the game concluded without either side managing to break the deadlock. The changes were orchestrated to infuse renewed energy and dynamism into the team after their recent away win against Gombe United.

Throughout the game, Doma United displayed dominance, controlling the rhythm and tempo. Despite their persistent efforts to penetrate Bendel’s defence, they were unable to convert their superior possession and opportunities into goals. Notable moments included Andrew Majalisa’s long-range attempt and Hillary’s impressive one-touch play with Bidemi, which unfortunately didn’t find the mark.

Bendel Insurance, though under pressure for most of the match, managed to secure four corner kicks compared to United’s solitary corner kick.

Following the final whistle, Coach Akinade Onigbinde expressed disappointment at the result and expressed determination to bounce back. He acknowledged missed opportunities and emphasized the need to rectify these issues ahead of their upcoming fixtures. He stated, “We created some good scoring chances but we couldn’t take them. We will go back and see how we can correct those in our next game. That is football; you win some, lose some, and draw some.”

Looking forward, Doma United sets its sights on redemption in their next fixture against Akwa United, scheduled for Saturday, November 11th, at the Pantami Stadium.
