Doma United Loses to Shooting Stars Despite Nelson Abiam’s Debut Goal

In a riveting clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium, fans witnessed an action-packed encounter between Doma United and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan. Despite a captivating debut goal from Nelson Abiam, Doma United suffered a 3-1 defeat against the resilient 3SC.

The game burst into life early on when Nelson Abiam, showcasing his prowess, found the net with a deflected free kick in the eighth minute, giving the visiting Savannah Tigers an early lead. However, the host, 3SC, mounted a comeback following an early setback.

After a period of intense back-and-forth play, the Oluyole Warriors managed to level the scoreline just before the halftime whistle. Gbolagade Adelowo, 3SC’s central defender, converted a penalty in the 44th minute, making it 1-1 going into the break.

The second half saw Shooting Stars intensifying their attacks, applying relentless pressure on Doma United. The breakthrough came in the 60th minute when substitute Kareem Ayinde Ademola showcased his skill, penetrating the United’s defence to slot the ball past goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom.

Doma United, despite their valiant efforts, struggled to convert their opportunities into goals. With time ticking away, the visitors aimed to stage a comeback, only to face a further setback when substitute Gideon Monday sealed the victory for 3SC with a remarkable strike from outside the 18-yard box in the dying moments of the game.

Looking ahead, Doma United will regroup and prepare to face Bendel Insurance in their upcoming home fixture on Thursday, November 2, 2023. The team will seek to bounce back from this defeat and secure a positive result in their pursuit of their target in the ongoing football season.
