2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League Season Set to Kick Off with Exciting Changes

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board officially announced Saturday, September 30 as the kickoff date for the highly anticipated 2023/24 season. This announcement comes after two postponements of the league’s commencement date, leaving fans eager to see their favorite clubs back in action.

In a letter addressed to all 20 participating clubs on Monday, September 25, Davidson Owumi, the Chief Operating Officer of the League, revealed some changes and incentives for the upcoming season. The most striking among these changes is an increase in the prize money for the league champions. The champions of the 2023/24 season will receive ₦150 million, marking a remarkable 50% increase from the previous season’s prize money.

Furthermore, the letter unveiled the provision of start-off grants, totaling ₦200 million, to be distributed among the 20 clubs. This financial boost is expected to provide essential support to the clubs at the beginning of the season.

The Savannah Tigers season opener is an away clash at Rangers International of Enugu. The match will be hosted in Awka, Anambra State.
