Doma United’s First Season In The NPFL
From the day Doma United gained promotion into the NPFL, there were several unconfirmed reports across various media platforms, speculating that the club management will eventually sell the club’s NPFL ticket to one of the relegated clubs. But then, that was contrary to what the management of the club had in mind as they were determined and resolute to give their fans a taste of the NPFL and true to that, these fans had a good ride in their first season and will hope to cheer the Tigers more next season.
The Savannah Tigers had a fair debut season in the NPFL after gaining promotion in 2022.
United was paired against some of the big guns in the NPFL; the likes of Rivers United, who were (are) the defending champions, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, Enugu Rangers among others.
Surprisingly, Doma United battled for a top three finish and almost picked a ticket for the super six playoffs which will determine the league winner. United came closed and missed out on qualification after failing to win a single match in their final three games of the season. Their home draw against Enugu Rangers at the Pantami stadium felt like a lost and that was followed by a two consecutive away 2-0 loses against Rivers United and Abia Warriors respectively.
