Doma United Suffer Slim Defeat In Uyo

Doma United on Saturday afternoon at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium in Uyo suffered a disappointing defeat to Dakkada FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 13 clash.

It took a stunning rebound from Mmekutmfon Udosen to separate the two sides in a close game to inflict the Tigers their first defeat in the second stanza of the season.

The Uyo side were the better side in the first twenty minutes as they dominated possession but were unable to create any clear cut chances in the game.

The best chance of game the came the of the Tigers as Hillary Ekawu tried a closed shot which was blocked and Barnabas attempted a back heel flip which was cleared on the line by a defender to keep the scores level before the break.

The host would have the breakthrough early in the second half as Mmekutmfon Udosen tapped in after goalkeeper Kingdom had initially parried away a distance shot but would into the part Mmekutmfon who was right on time to bury in the rebound to put his team ahead.

Coach Akinade made some changes during the second half in an effort to push for an equalizer. but of the host were reluctant as they held on to secure the win.

Akinade Onigbinde made some changes to the side that had won at home to against Niger Tornadoes last weekend.

There was no Usman Musa today who didn’t travel with the team, so Paschal came in and Auwalu Abubakar was handed a start with Maurice Chigozie moving to the bench.

The second half was a bit better from the boys as they tried to up their tempo and in the process created some great chances which were not converted as it ended in defeat for the Gombe based side.

Despite the defeat the Savannah Tigers remains in 3rd position on in Group B of the abridged Premier League table.

Next for the Tigers at the Pantami Stadium will be the Gombe State FA Cup final against NPFL counterparts, Gombe United on Wednesday. Kick-off o 3:30pm.

Next NPFL outing is a Northeastern derby against Wikki Tourist on Sunday 16th April.
